Neighborhood Streets

Click to enlarge. These pictures were taken through the car's windshield so they're a little blurry.

This is a garage under someone's house.

The red thing on the right is a fire extinguisher.

  1. Amy,
Tokyo is a pretty clean city. Shopkeepers keep the area around their shops clean and homeowners keep the areas along their walls clean. Most apartment dwellers actually have a rotating schedule of clean-up duty of the grounds. Some neighborhoods have that, too. However, there is sometimes trash on the street. There aren't any garbage cans around and people do toss trash. Mt. Fuji has not been designated a World Heritage site because of the trash that's on it.
I have noticed that fallen leaves are left a while. Perhaps it is for us to enjoy them. They fly in traffic!

I travelled through Asia many years ago. What I remember most was dust. Not so much garbage tossed around but dust. But that makes beautiful sunsets!
