The Wisteria is Blooming
I noticed it smelled kinda like bubble gum! I was alone and bubble gum flavor is not very well known here so I didn't get a second opinion. It could have been my imagination. But maybe wisteria is part of the bubble gum formula!
Wisteria is a vine. The base of this wisteria is really big! Click on the picture to enlarge it. See the cat? A few feral cats live in the gardens.
On the left is the wisteria arbor. Roses are on the right. They are not blooming yet. The building on the right is a pavilion where you can sit and admire the gardens. There are some Japanese maple trees behind it. They have bright red leaves in early December.
The azaleas bloomed earlier this month. I missed them this year! Look at last year's posts by clicking on the labels below.

Wisteria
Wisteria needs support, too. This one hasn't begun to bloom.
This is what the blooms look like before they open. These will be purple.
Here's one that is getting a lot of attention. It was beautiful. It's not a very good picture, though. The camera was focusing on the man in front.
Some wisteria are white.

Wisteria Lane
Here is a purple wisteria blossom in full bloom.
Maybe in a week or so this wisteria will all be in bloom.
This is the base of the vine.

Another Spring, Another Year : Happy Blogoversary to Us!
Ethel was my first post last year. Click on the archives to read more about her. She is now eighteen years old. Here and There Japan is now one year old!
Unlike last year, Ethel did not brumate. She did not sleep through the winter. I guess it was just too warm this winter.
Today we noticed our wisteria is blooming for the first time in five years. That's a gift!
Thank you, regular and new readers, for visiting HTJ! There's so much more to show and tell, so come back.
