Well, you don't see this everyday. Even around here. I've been here in this neighborhood for a very long time and just happened onto this monk last Wednesday. I have seen monks near big, busy train stations. This monk was off the beaten track on a little shopping street down from a small station. He stood chanting. He bowed when I asked for a picture. He bowed after I put coins in his wooden collection bowl.
In the background of the second picture is an old vegetable shop. I've always wanted to photograph it. I'll do it another day. Taking pictures of the old things around here is one of the reasons we bought a digital camera.
